Go Electric - June 2025

Sunday’s Go Electric Open Day was a blast

From EVs to cooking demos to expert panels and kids' activities, the whole day was filled with good vibes and great questions.

Many of the late model EVs on display including Endeavour Energy’s Ford Lightning, Saul Griffith’s VW ID.Buzz and a Tesla decked out for camping.

Saul Griffith launched his new book, Plug In.
We heard about:
- the new solar-battery-VPP initiative from our joint Councils (Wollongong to Kiama), called the Illawarra Shoalhaven Community Renewables Program
- the recently announced Illawarra Urban Renewable Energy Zone and
- the Federal government Cheaper Battery Program
We asked our burning questions at the household energy stalls and enjoyed an induction cooking demonstration by the chefs from Moore Street General while the kids assembled and raced mini solar cars.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along and to all the incredible volunteers, partners and stallholders who made it possible.

An informative, fun-filled day.

Co-hosted by Electrify Illawarra and Electrify 2515 Community Pilot. Proudly supported by Wollongong City Council.
