Overview
Electrify Illawarra recognises the importance of protecting the privacy of your personal information. As an incorporated association in NSW, Electrify Illawarra is not required to meet the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We understand, however, the importance of good privacy practice.
We inform you below, to the best of our knowledge, of how we collect and handle personal information, as well as the information about Electrify Illawarra you may access.
Personal information is information or an opinion that identifies, or can be used to readily identify, individuals. Examples of personal information we collect includes names and email addresses. 1. What personal information does Electrify Illawarra collect and hold?
If you contact us or join our mailing list, we collect your name and email address. We also collect your telephone number if you opt to provide it.
If you become a member, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, suburb, postcode and the Council area where you live. Your payment details are provided to Electrify Illawarra’s Secretary via direct deposit from Bendigo Bank, whose privacy policy is here.
2. How do we collect and hold personal information?
This personal information is collected in many ways, principally via our website (www.electrifyillawarra.org).
3. Why do we collect personal information?
We collect your personal information for the primary purpose of providing information to you, consistent with our objective. Collecting this information also helps support and coordinate volunteer participation in our community organisation.
We collect membership information to comply with our requirements as an incorporated association.
When we collect personal information, we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.
4. What about links on our website?
Our website contain links to other websites operated by third parties. We make no representations or warranties in relation to the privacy practices of any other website. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of any other website. Third party websites are responsible for informing you about their own privacy practices.
5. When do we disclose your personal information?
Your personal information will not be disclosed, except where you consent to the use or disclosure to third parties or in circumstances required or authorised by law.
Your personal information will not be sold or used for marketing or other purposes unrelated to the objective of Electrify Illawarra.
If you choose to be a member of Electrify Illawarra, under our obligations as an incorporated association, other members can search the register of members. A member must not, however, use information about another member obtained from the register, except as set out in Electrify Illawarra’s constitution. Information about a member (other than the member’s name) must not be made available for inspection if the member requests that the information not be made available.
6. How do we store and make secure your personal information?
Your personal information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
You may unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by clicking unsubscribe on our emails or by contacting us.
You may resign from being a member of Electrify Illawarra in writing, giving at least one month’s notice.
When your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy it.

8. What information can members of Electrify Illawarra seek access to?
In accordance with our obligations as a NSW incorporated association, members of Electrify Illawarra may inspect, free of charge, the following documents about us:
· Constitution;
· Minutes of all General Meetings and any records of Committee Meetings; and
· Financial documents.
